SUMMARY:Thames Valley Art Society Autumn Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Thames Valley Art Society Autumn Exhibition\n\n\n\n\n\nCome and see the Thames Valley Art Society’s Autumn Exhibition at All Saints Church\, from 24 September to 5 October. \nAll works are for sale\, including unframed pictures and cards. The exhibiton is open 10am to 4pm on weekdays\, and 11.30am to 4pm on Sundays. Entry is free!  \nThe Thames Valley Art Society was founded in Kingston upon Thames in 1906 by Lucy Millett\, a woman with formidable organisational and artistic skills. She was the first woman teacher at Camberwell School of Art and lived in Hampton Wick. The first members attended “Lantern Lectures” in her studio in the Old Malthouse building overlooking the River Thames . The first exhibition was held in the Kingston Museum Art Gallery in 1906\, two years after it’s completion\, and the Society still exhibits there today. \nFrom the start\, many members were practising artists\, two of the most notable being Sir Frank Brangwyn and Graham Sutherland. \nTerence Cuneo\, famous for his fine railway paintings was President for many years\, often exhibiting with the Society. \nThe current President\, Ann Ryves who attended Kingston School of Art\, continues the work started by Lucy Millett\, encouraging aspiring artists in the Kingston area to come together to paint\, exchange ideas and exhibit their work.

This unique dance project will engage with the local people to make a community dance programme together on the day – no experience necessary\, just come prepared to get up and dance! \nAlso on the day\, the Master of Kimchi Making\, H.Y.Lee and the World Institute of Kimchi (WIKIM) are coming back to demonstrate how to make authentic Kimchi\, plus there will be various events and activities to get involved in\, including paper lantern making and the opportunity to try on traditional Korean costume. \nKingston Korea Festival is delivered by the Koran British Cultural Exchange in association with Totally Thames Festival and with support from Kingston First\, Kingston Council and Overseas Koreans Foundation.

Events include the Kingston Korea Festival and a re-enactment of the last pubic ducking in the Thames in 1745.  \nKingston River Festival is part of Totally Thames\, an annual celebration of the River Thames with a creative and diveerse programme that inspires\, connects and enthrals.  \nKingston River Festival runs from Saturday 7 to Sunday 22 September.  \nSaturday 7 and Sunday 8 September: Thames 1745\, Dave Diamond\nRe-enacting a true story from 1745\, Dave Diamond will bring to life the last known ducking in the Thames that took place here in Kingston. With circus acts\, an essence of pantomime and a live act of underwater escapology\, this fun street theatre will delight audiences of all ages! Performances at 1.30 and 3.30pm at Kingston Market Place.  \nThursday 12 September\, 6-7pm: Kingston Tour Guides’ River Walk Pageant\nEnjoy an immersive historical experience and learn all about our beautiful town with the Kingston Tour Guides\, who\, dressed in Edwardian costume\, will bring the town’s historical figures to life with a tour themed around Jerome K.
